LA Collections
Wedding photographer Lesley Anne originally came to me because she was tired of not being able to edit her existing site. I converted it to WordPress, which allowed her to make her own changes and additions – including adding new photos to the gallery, which is pretty important for a photographer!
One of the useful things about WordPress is that you can edit the meta data of your page, which is helpful with the search engines. Pretty soon Lesley had done such a good job of editing her copy and her meta data that she'd managed to get herself a top ranking in Google for her primary search terms!
Soon she decided she'd like to give the site a makeover, too.
The old design was a little heavy – a deep red – and Lesley wanted something a bit more bride-friendly, so she asked me to do a redesign. We chose shades of lavender for the new look. Some elegant faded swirls add a little interest to the background, without drawing attention from the most important aspect of her site – her photos.
And then she had a rather splendid idea. With more and more couples wanting to have their own wedding websites, she decided it would be nice if she could offer each of her brides their own wedding website on her webspace.
This is something which is now very easy to do with WordPress. So I configured her WordPress installation to allow her to add as many of these mini sites as she liked. Each bride gets their own little WordPress site and blog, on the LA Collections webspace – eg, www.lacollections.co.uk/kate/ – where they can blog, add travel details and other helpful info, add photos, and invite their guests to leave comments.
I created a design for the bride sites based on the main site design, with a range of colours for the brides to choose from (samples below).
I even created some tutorial videos to help the brides learn how to edit their site.
